| DuPont™ Tyvek® Envelopes run smoothly and efficiently
on most standard automatic envelope insertion and inkjet addressing
equipment.
Automatic
Insertion
Tyvek® envelopes are readily processed on most standard
inserters made by major manufacturers. The secret to a smooth
insertion process, just as with other envelopes, is using
an envelope that meets the design requirements of the equipment
manufacturer. Key design parameters are flap dimensions, flap
taper, throat design and enclosure clearance.
Envelope types should be an open-side booklet or diagonal
seam, both with remoistenable gum.
Many envelope users don't realize that automatic insertion
of Tyvek® envelopes can speed up their process. If your
customers are hand inserting Tyvek® envelopes with pressure-sensitive
closures, they could eliminate a very time-intensive process
by switching to automatic insertion and water-activated gum
closures. Ask your Tyvek® envelope manufacturer for further
information.
Inkjet Addressing/Barcoding
Tyvek® envelopes are compatible with most inkjet addressing/barcoding
systems. In fact, a wide variety of oil- and solvent-based
inks provide high-performance inkjet addressing/barcoding
on Tyvek® envelopes. For companies using water-based inks,
minor line adaptations will provide satisfactory results on
most systems.
Some of these modifications may include draft-mode printing,
which requires less ink; extended feed intervals, which provide
more time for the ink to dry; supplemental driers; and extended
exit.
