Frequently Asked Questions

I’m looking to cut down on postage costs by using inkjet addressing equipment. I often use Tyvek® envelopes for important mailshots and I would like to know whether these envelopes can be used on inkjet printers.

Nowadays, Tyvek® envelopes are even better for inkjet printing and thanks to some recent modifications to the Tyvek® surface, ink distortion may be fully eliminated.
Tyvek® envelopes can be addressed with most standard inkjet systems.

Solvent pigmented ink-based systems work ideally because of their quick-drying characteristics.

However, many units use water-based inks that typically dry more slowly on Tyvek® than on paper. In this case, some adjustments such as "draft-mode" printing, longer feed intervals or dryers will help enhance the printing quality on Tyvek®. For example, the Hewlett Packard 51645A cartridge at 300 DPI delivers very good results and the HP-51626A cartridge at 150 DPI delivers acceptable results.
